January is MUSIC CAMP

February is ALPINE PICK

HARRIETVILLE MUSIC CAMP

Every January musicians converge on Harrietville for a week of intensive workshops run by the Whitehorse Orchestra. As a grand finale, the Harrietville Big Band performs a concert at the Harrietville Hotel Motel, which is always a rollicking good time.

BUSH MARKET

The Harrietville Bush Market is held twice a year at Tavare Park; once in January and once at Easter time. There are craft and food stalls for the adults, and face painting stalls for the kids.

DRIVE 4 LIFE

This four-wheel drive charity event starts and finishes in Harrietville during its journey through the high country. It’s normally held in April.

BRIGHT AUTUMN FESTIVAL

Celebrate how beautiful autumn can be in the alpine region – take it from us, it’s a sight not to be missed. The Bright Autumn Festival hosts open gardens, farm tours and guided tours through Harrietville, Bright and Wandiligong. There’s also a Gala Weekend in Bright, which culminates in a big street parade.

THE GREAT ALPINE PICK

Over three days in April this Bluegrass festival results in a series of concerts, workshops and old timey dances. There’s always a major concert at the Harrietville Hotel Motel, though don’t be surprised if you walk into a spontaneous jam session somewhere around town.

AFL GRAND FINAL

Come and watch the two AFL teams battle it out for the Premiership Cup on our big screen. We serve up all of your favourite footy foods, including meat pies and hot chips.

BRIGHT SPRING FESTIVAL

Bright’s parks and gardens come alive during October, when the Spring Festival bursts into town. Take historical tours, attend banquet lunches, wander one of the many open gardens, or enjoy a spectacular fireworks display. Browse the website for the full list of activities.

HARRIETVILLE CRICKET CLUB CALCUTTA

Come along to the Harrietville Hotel Motel Melbourne Cup Eve and join in the fun of our annual calcutta auction. There will be raffles, door prizes and finger food on offer. Table bookings are essential.

HOT ROD RUN

The annual Hot Rod Run is held in Bright on the second weekend in November, and it attracts entries and spectators from around Australia. Drool with envy as you watch classic cars cruise around town, or head along to the weekend swap meet to browse the many stalls.

ANNUAL DUCK RACE

The annual Harrietville Primary School Duck Race takes place every Easter Sunday in Tavare Park. There are only 500 ducks available, so get in quick and claim your spot. You could win $500 in cold hard cash.

MOUNTAINGRASS FESTIVAL

You might have guessed by now that Harrietville is a hotspot for Australia's best bluegrass and folk musicians. This annual festival is one of our best. It has a rich history in Harrietville - after 24 years as the Harrietville Bluegrass and Traditional Country Music Convention, the event was permanently cancelled. But our townspeople rallied, and MountainGrass was born. It takes place in November with bands playing at different venues across Harrietville and at Harrietville Hotel Motel on Saturday night. With up to four local and international acts performing. It's not to be missed!

HANDWEAVER AND SPINNERS GUILD OF VICTORIA

Every March, the Handweaver and Spinners Guild of Victoria hosts a weekend in Harrietville full of workshops designed to keep the ancient crafts of spinning, weaving and dyeing alive. Taking place in the first week of April 2016.
