MOUNT HOTHAM ALPINE RESORT

Harrietville is the perfect base for your next Mount Hotham ski trip. In less than half an hour you can be up the mountain, skiing, tobogganing and snowboarding away.

Contrary to what you might think, Hotham doesn’t shut down in the summer months. Its beautiful mountain scenery is ideal for hiking, mountain biking and horse riding.

WALKING TRACKS

There are two world-class walking tracks in Harrietville – the Bon Accord track, which starts along the Ovens River before climbing towards Mount Feathertop; and the Bungalow Spur, a steeper 11km walk up the mountain along the razorback. Both hikes are challenging (but worth the effort!) and take about four hours, so be prepared if you’re bringing the kids.

HARRIETVILLE HISTORICAL MUSEUM

The Harrietville Historical Museum can be found in a restored old miner’s cottage right behind the famous dredge bucket. It features some unique exhibitions, including homemade snowshoes used by skiing pioneers, and gold mining relics from the 1880s.

The museum is open during public holidays and on weekends throughout the summer, but if you’re visiting outside this period, call ahead to make a booking.

Feathertop Blueberries

A picturesque blueberry farm positioned in the beautiful alpine hills of Harrietville. They offer pick your own blueberries and wonderful views.

THE LAVENDER FARM

There’s nothing more relaxing than a visit to the lavender fields, which sit right beside the Ovens River. Purchase a unique souvenir in the Lavender Hue gift shop, or enjoy a cup of tea and a lavender scone in the tearooms.

ALPINE VALLEY WINE TOURS

Bright Limousines’ popular wine tours visit a number of scenic vineyards in the Alpine region, including Michael Dalbosco's vineyard overlooking Mount Buffalo, Boynton's Feathertop Winery in Porepunkah, and Michelini Winery in Myrtleford.

MOUNTAIN FRESH TROUT AND SALMON FARM

Entry is free to the trout and salmon farm, where rods and bait are also provided. You only have to pay for the cleaned weight of your catch.The farm is open from Thursday and Monday throughout the year, and seven days a week during school holidays.

BRIGHT GOLF CLUB

The Bright Golf Club is a short 25 minute drive from Harrietville. The 18-hole course, which is surrounded by beautiful mountainous scenery, is open to the public seven days a week.

ACTIVE FLIGHT PARAGLIDING

If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, soar high above the Alpine region on a tandem paraglider. You’ll fly with an experienced instructor up to heights of 2500m. There are several flights to choose from, which last anywhere from ten minutes to one hour.
